A Full Program of Activities

The Activity Department offers each resident an individualized program enhancing quality of life and sense of well-being. Our professional staff plans and develops meaningful, “person-appropriate” activities promoting physical, cognitive, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health. Offerings include a combination of large and small groups, one-to-one, and self-directed activities.

Independent residents may enjoy socials, cooking projects, arts and crafts, table games, or time on their own reading books supplied by the Kitsap Regional Library. Magazines and puzzles are also available in a reading alcove. Those with Dementia are offered Reminisce groups (emphasizing their strengths and long term memories), sing-along’s, time enjoying sunshine outdoors, and meaningful tasks. Our sensory program offers therapeutic and gentle massage or touch, aromatherapy, soothing music, and even a warm hand towel before dinner. Everyone enjoys holding kittens or petting a puppy when the Kitsap Humane Society visits!

Delicious Food

We get asked all the time, “How good is the food at Stafford?”

People end up answering their own question as soon as they take their first bite. They are constantly complimenting our dining room staff about the wonderful food. We believe it is because of our talented cooks that prepare and deliver high quality meals for our residents to enjoy. We also attribute the success to our monthly resident food committee that reviews the menus, which are written in compliance with the American Dietetic Association and are updated regularly to feature fresh fruits and vegetables. Personal preferences are taken into consideration; the kitchen is able to meet each individual’s specific dietary requirements and tastes. Alternate choices are always available.

The Garden Dining room is bright and cheerful and is decorated to resemble a patio-style restaurant. The large bank of windows looks out into the garden area, a favorite seat in the house. The dining room offers a delicious breakfast and lunch buffet. Dinner is nicely served by meal service. For many of our residents, it’s the best part of the day—time to spend with their friends and family around the table.

In addition to the dining room, assortments of bedtime snacks are offered each night to all residents. This treat is anticipated; many residents won’t go to bed until after they’ve had their snack.

Transportation and Outings

Our Stafford Healthcare medical van is equipped to transport wheelchair dependent residents to medical appointments as well as admitting from Harrison Hospital. A family member may accompany the resident along to the appointments. Residents and families that have previous arrangements with ACCESS transit can choose to retain those services.

Twice a week “Scenic Drives” take us into the community; in addition to a seasonal trips for a picnic at the lake, choosing pumpkins at the farm, and viewing local Christmas lights. Once a month, interested Residents vote where they would like to have “Breakfast Out.” Summer BBQ’s are held in our garden area, professional musicians entertain weekly, and shopping trips are offered to the dollar store. And there is always a holiday just around the corner: including honoring our Veterans in November and remembering our sweethearts with Valentines.
